FY23 Report Features

The following features are only available for the FY23 annual report in N-PEARS. For FY24 and following, these items will not be included in the N-PEARS annual report. These features are designed to allow flexibility for the FY23 annual report since this is the first report entered into N-PEARS, and the corresponding FY23 plan was not entered into N-PEARS.

State Report Setup

For the FY23 annual report, State agencies must set up the annual report in N-PEARS before implementing agencies can view or edit report modules.
  • The report setup section supports States that have different implementing agencies, State goals, or SMART objectives for FY23 vs. FY24.
  • The implementing agencies, goals, and objectives saved in N-PEARS for FY24 plans can be updated to reflect FY23 reports, if needed. All State agencies must complete the setup section to finalize these lists for the FY23 report, even if no updates are needed.
  • This feature is similar to the State Plan Setup section that State agencies completed as part of the FY24 State plan.
  • Implementing Agencies (IAs) will not be able to start FY23 reports until the State agency completes report setup.

Set Up FY23 Implementing Agencies

The FY23 annual report allows State agencies to set up implementing agencies that are expected to submit a FY23 report.
  • This section in the State report setup supports States that had a change in implementing agencies between FY23 and FY24.
  • In the “Implementing Agency Setup” section, State agencies can adjust the implementing agencies in their State to set up the appropriate implementing agency reports for FY23.
  • For States with the same implementing agencies in FY23 and FY24, no changes are needed.

Set Up FY23 Goals and Objectives

The FY23 annual report allows State agencies to set up goals and objectives for the FY23 Report.
  • These sections in the State report setup support States that have a different set of State priority goals and SMART objectives for FY23 vs. FY24.
  • In the “Priority Goals” section, all goals from the FY24 State plan are listed. State agencies can add, edit, or remove goals as needed, to set up the appropriate goals for FY23 reporting.
  • In the “Objectives & Indicators” section, all objectives from the FY24 State plan are listed. State agencies can add, edit, or remove objectives as needed, to set up the appropriate objectives for FY23 reporting.

Reporting FY23 Projects and Evaluations

The FY23 annual report allows agencies complete flexibility to adjust projects and evaluations for the FY23 Report.
  • For the FY23 report, N-PEARS allows additional flexibility in reporting projects and evaluations, to support agencies that have a different set of projects and evaluations for FY23 vs. FY24.
  • Planned projects and evaluations reported in the FY24 plan are automatically copied over to the FY23 report to be updated with details from the agency’s FY23 SNAP-Ed efforts. When completing the FY23 report, agencies can add or remove planned projects and evaluations, as needed.
  • In future years, planned projects and evaluations will be copied to the report from the corresponding plan year. (For example, planned projects and evaluations listed in the FY24 plan will be copied to the FY24 report). For the FY24 report and following, agencies will be able to add unplanned projects/evaluations or mark planned projects/evaluations as unimplemented, but will not be able to add or remove planned projects/evaluations.

Reporting FY23 PSE Changes

The FY23 annual report allows less detailed reporting for PSE changes.
  • For FY23, reporting PSE changes is more flexible in order to support agencies in the first year of using National PEARS to submit the annual report.
  • For the FY23 annual report, agencies will not be asked to differentiate between changes adopted vs. changes maintained at each site. All PSE changes will be reported together in one “PSE Changes” section.
  • Starting with the FY24 annual report, agencies will be asked to differentiate PSE changes adopted vs. changes maintained, and National PEARS will include automation to assist with this more detailed level of reporting. In the FY24 report, all PSE changes reported for FY23 will automatically be listed as “maintained.” The list of maintained changes for FY24 can be edited, as needed.
